Hello! A hearty welcome to my Surface Pattern Design project. When I feel quite satisfied with the overall motif arrangement of a pattern, for the next step I run it through a few color palettes. Here sharing the most compatible color variations – sorted out from the recoloring process. Compatible in that sense is as a whole, it reflects a cohesive look.
This project includes ditsyness at its highest (I am making up my own words – I hope you will understand). And not just ditsy floral, it comes with gradient applied. The florals are abstract doodles, not a specific flower. About the spacing in between the motifs, I think I have done a pretty decent job considering my competency level. I do have some icky feeling about making ditsy patterns – it’s something that falls mostly in the discomfort zone for me at the present moment. Being able to make balanced ditsy patterns is one of my overall pattern design goals. So, if you like this one, remember to send some prayers for me.
Don’t get me wrong. I understand the purpose of setting patterns on product mock-ups for visualization. It certainly has its own place in presentation. However, I love seeing pattern as a single spread too. They are like open ended questions that triggers imagination. Not sure if it’s only me or there exist others who might find it interesting as well!
